House of Timber is a small family-owned workshop crafting custom dining tables from solid hardwoods. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and built in Michigan, fully customizable, and made to last for generations — created to become the centerpiece of homes and gatherings across the country.
2018 - ESTABLISHED
A holiday table that changed everything.
In 2017, just after Thanksgiving, I felt inspired to build my first custom dining table for my family — a piece that would bring everyone together for Christmas.
With my dad by my side, we spent long hours in the shop bringing it to life. We finished just in time for our holiday gathering, and watching everyone gather around that table was something I’ll never forget. It became the heart of the celebration.
That first table sparked a deeper appreciation for the craft — from selecting quality hardwood to refining every detail by hand. As friends and family began asking for tables of their own, what started as one meaningful project slowly grew into something more.
By early 2018, my dad and I officially launched Great Lakes Farmhouse, a small Michigan workshop built on craftsmanship, quality, and family. Today, that same foundation continues through House of Timber, where every table is handcrafted to bring people together for years to come.

2024 - TODAY

In 2024, as demand for our work continued to grow nationwide, we embraced a new name: House of Timber.
More than a rebrand, the name reflects our continued commitment to fine craftsmanship, timeless design, and building custom dining tables that become the heart of the home.
Based in Michigan, we create handcrafted tables for homes and businesses across the country — pieces designed to complement modern, farmhouse, and traditional spaces while showcasing the natural beauty of solid hardwood.
While our name has changed, our values remain the same: quality, integrity, and a deep respect for the artistry of woodworking. Since 2018, we’ve handcrafted hundreds of custom dining tables, each built with care, purpose, and lasting beauty in mind.

FOUNDER & WOODWORKER
Meet David.
David founded House of Timber (formerly Great Lakes Farmhouse) in 2018 in Hartland, Michigan. What began as a step into the unknown quickly revealed a deep passion for design through woodworking—ultimately leading him to specialize in handcrafted furniture.
In 2017, he designed the Clare Trestle Table—a piece that laid the groundwork for his first full line of farm tables, launched in 2018. Inspired by the sculptural curves of Finn Juhl, David's work blends clean lines with timeless craftsmanship.
After studying design at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, David held several creative roles before starting House of Timber alongside his dad.
On January 8th, 2023, God called my dad home. Though he's no longer by my side in the shop, his presence is still deeply felt in everything I do. I can still hear him say, "Keep at it" and "Watch your fingers," just like he always did when we were working together. The lessons he taught me—about patience, precision, great customer service, and taking pride in honest work—remain invaluable and continue to guide me every day.
WOODWORKER
Meet Sam.
Sam recently joined us in June, 2025—and we’re thrilled to have her on the team! She is a talented woodworker with a strong eye for form, structure, and craftsmanship. As our new table base specialist, she focuses on designing and building the foundations that give each table its character and strength.
With a background in fine woodworking and a particular passion for joinery, Sam brings both creativity and precision to every base she creates. From bold trestles to sculptural pedestals, her work ensures that each table is as sturdy as it is stunning.
We’re excited to welcome Sam to the House of Timber team. Her dedication to craftsmanship and thoughtful design makes her an invaluable part of what we do.
