Cleaning & Care

At House of Timber, we use several premium furniture finishes selected for their beauty, durability, and suitability for everyday living. Because each finish requires slightly different care, please follow the recommendations below.

Lacquer & Conversion Varnish Finishes

For routine dusting, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

For everyday cleaning, lightly dampen a soft cloth with water and gently wipe the surface. Dry promptly with a clean cloth and avoid allowing water to remain on the tabletop.

Do not use bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, furniture polish, wax, or harsh household cleaning products, as they may damage or dull the finish.

Rubio Monocoat Finishes

For routine dusting, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

For light cleaning, wipe the surface with a cloth lightly dampened with water. For regular or deeper cleaning, use Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray or properly diluted Rubio Monocoat Soap according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not use dish soap, all-purpose cleaners, furniture polish, wax, or other household cleaning products, as they may break down the oil finish over time.

When the surface begins to appear dry or worn, it may be refreshed with the appropriate Rubio Monocoat maintenance product. Always follow the manufacturer’s application instructions.

Heat, Moisture & Everyday Protection

Always use coasters, placemats, trivets, and protective pads beneath hot, wet, sharp, or abrasive objects.

Clean spills promptly and avoid allowing standing water or moisture to remain on the surface. Never place hot cookware directly on the tabletop.

Our indoor furniture is designed for climate-controlled interior spaces. Avoid placing it near heating vents, fireplaces, radiators, or areas with excessive sunlight, humidity, or temperature fluctuations.
