Cleaning & Care

At House of Timber, we use several premium furniture finishes selected for their beauty, durability, and suitability for everyday living. Because each finish requires slightly different care, please follow the recommendations below.

Polyurethane & Lacquer Finishes

For routine dusting, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

For everyday cleaning, lightly dampen a soft cloth with water and gently wipe the surface. Dry promptly with a clean cloth and avoid allowing water to remain on the tabletop.

Do not use bleach, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, furniture polish, wax, or harsh household cleaning products, as they may damage or dull the finish.

Rubio Monocoat Finishes

For routine dusting, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

For light cleaning, wipe the surface with a cloth lightly dampened with water. For regular or deeper cleaning, use Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray.

Do not use dish soap, all-purpose cleaners, furniture polish, wax, or other household cleaning products, as they may damage the oil finish over time.

If the surface begins to appear dry or worn in certain areas, it can be refreshed with Rubio Monocoat Renew. Under normal residential use, this may be needed approximately every 3–5 years, depending on use and care.

Heat, Moisture & Everyday Protection

Always use coasters, placemats, trivets, and protective pads beneath hot, wet, sharp, or abrasive objects.

Clean spills promptly and avoid allowing standing water or moisture to remain on the surface. Never place hot cookware directly on the tabletop.

For best results, maintain indoor humidity between 35% and 45%. Keeping humidity within this stable range helps minimize the natural expansion and contraction of solid wood, reducing the risk of cracking, warping, or movement throughout the year.
