FAQ's

Custom tables & furniture.

No we don't. We never found it necessary or desirable to have one in Michigan. Our gorgeous tables experience strong online sales nationwide and are adorning homes throughout America.

Sorry, we just focus on custom tables that are purchased from us.

Sorry we don't. To free up space in the shop for our next order, once we complete a dining table set it immediately gets wrapped and boxed then picked up or shipped out.

No, we only build benches for our tables. We have customers who may only order one bench because they have their own set of chairs or plan on purchasing them. A great look is to put chairs on one side of your table and a bench on the other.

Whether you like modern, industrial, vintage, mixing and matching with contrasting colors and styles, our farm tables pair great with any chairs of choice.

No we don't. All our lumber comes from local suppliers who we have built great relationships with. Our customers, along with us, have been satisfied with the high quality of hardwoods we use to make each piece with that extra “rustic” look, if preferred.

No we don't. We focus on what we do best, building dining tables, coffee tables and end tables.

Custom made tables are our specialty. We don’t have a warehouse full of dining tables and furniture that we can ship out the door after you place your order. From start to finish, we can build a dining table and bench in 3 weeks. However, your "wait time" is typically between 8-12 weeks depending on how many orders we have in progress prior to yours. Email us and we will give you a more accurate estimate.

All our tables and benches come with felt feet pads for easy sliding and protection on your floors.

Yes. All our dining tables will come disassembled. Not to worry, we've provided the hardware and simple instructions for you to easily put it back together in minutes! This makes it easier for you to pickup and carry it into your home and for our drivers if you decide to have it delivered. A wrench is all you will need.

We make every one of our custom dining tables with a focus on quality and attention to detail. All are handmade with premium American hardwoods that contain saw marks, knots, and other beautiful imperfections. This is what gives our pieces their beautiful and unique rustic character.

Real wood moves with the change of seasons. As time goes by your table top will expand and contract with the change of seasons and humidity. During these changes you will notice seams open up and close and minor gaps. This is not a defect in the material or an issue with the workmanship; it is the result of the natural movement of the wood. This is expected and unavoidable.

These natural characteristics and occurrences only continue to add to the rustic character that makes our real wood furniture get more beautiful with age and use.

Yes we do! Our heirloom tables are made from high quality American hardwoods like White Oak, Cherry and Walnut. Hardwoods are strong, durable and can resist everyday wear and tear. These pieces are passed from one generation to another. Heirloom furniture is of such high quality that one's great grandchildren may enjoy it.

House of Timber stands by our product and believe our craftsmanship and materials are superior to mass produced, imported furniture. Therefore, we offer a 6 month warranty on our dining tables after delivery or pickup.

What is covered in our 6 month warranty: Your table is made with real solid wood, not from manufactured pressboard you find in all stores. Real wood moves with the seasons and humidity. Our tables are made with the expectation that the wood will move. And as time goes by it is important to understand that real wood can shrink, crack, bow and gap from time to time with temperature and humidity changes. You will also see some seams open and close during the change in seasons. This is expected and unavoidable. However, while it is extremely rare, we want to ensure our customers that any abnormal splitting on the tabletop surface will be repaired or replaced. If we see that any damage is due to our craftsmanship or our material we will repair or replace it free of charge.

What is not covered: We finish your table with the finest materials we can buy. If there is unlikely damage to the surface top coat (scratches, hot dishes, moisture rings) or color damage then we believe this falls outside of our craftsmanship and is not covered under warranty.

If after 6 months you are in need of repair of your table we are happy to attempt at restoring it to its former state and bill you for the repair. If you are outside of Michigan we are happy to help you find a local furniture repair professional who will supply work just as excellent as our team.

Delivery & pickup.

Absolutely! If you're in Michigan you can save on shipping and get it sooner! Most of our local customers prefer to pickup their furniture at no cost. Just come on over to our place in Hartland, Michigan with your truck, blankets, straps, and some muscle (real wood furniture is heavy) and we’ll get you taken care of.

We support private shippers for all our deliveries. This means that they are independent drivers who will need assistance unloading the larger pieces (table and bench tops) into your home once it arrives; however, he will not set it up. This saves on cost and time for you and us!

The driver will call prior to delivery and let you know when your delivery time and day will be based on his schedule, so please be flexible. Once the item is in the drivers hands, it is his responsibility. If something is wrong when the shipment arrives, please notify the driver to schedule a return or discussion with us.

Cancellations, refunds & changes.

You can cancel your order anytime prior to receiving your 7 day getting started email for a full refund. Since each table is made to order we cannot accept cancellations after we've notified you 7 days prior before your start date, as your custom piece has been scheduled into our production pipeline, labor and materials for your order have been ordered and stocked, and the cost of constructing your custom piece is underway.

Your furniture is custom made just for you; therefore, unless there is an error on our part and your items don’t match your order receipt, ie: wrong color, size, or style etc., there are no refunds or exchanges.

By choosing to accept your order on the day of pickup or delivery confirms you are fully accepting your order. Meaning you are fully satisfied to keep it forever.

We use real wood. And as time goes by it is important to understand that real wood contains natural knots, grains and imperfections and can shrink, crack, bow and gap from time to time with temperature and humidity changes. We feel that these natural characteristics and occurrences only continue to add to the rustic character that makes this furniture both beautiful and unique. Likewise, wood colors obtained by staining or using paint can vary from one piece to another as each piece is one of a kind. For these reasons, no refunds or exchanges will be made on any order beyond pickup or delivery.

Yes, you can change your order anytime prior to receiving your 7 day getting started email. We can best accommodate these changes if you contact us before your 7 day notice — that way we can be sure to have the materials needed to keep you on schedule.
